We’re honored that noteworthy Texas authors Lawrence Wright and Mimi Swartz will join us for an after-dinner conversation.
Larry is winner of the Pulitzer Prize for The Looming Tower, a staff writer at The New Yorker (where he wrote about the triplets in the current documentary Three Identical Strangers), and author of the stage play Cleo, which premiered at the Alley last season. Earlier this year he published God Save Texas, an incisive and humorous exploration of his home state.
Mimi is senior executive editor at Texas Monthly and a regular contributor to the New York Times Op-Ed page. A two-time winner of the National Magazine Award, her just-published book is Ticker: The Quest to Create an Artificial Heart.
Larry and Mimi, friends and colleagues for many years, have been talking to each other about the joys and frustrations, challenges and thrills of covering the Lone Star State since they met at Texas Monthly. We look forward to joining them as they continue their lively discourse.
We are delighted to have Chevron as our Presenting Sponsor, and we deeply appreciate their continuing commitment to our region.
